This time of year we see a lot of hawks. They are probably always around but we see them more often since the trees are bare. It's always exciting to watch them take flight if we spook them from their perch .. or to watch them hover over the fields in search of prey.

Fabian Cheama must also have a fascination with hawks. He's carved this beautiful hawk fetish from Picasso marble and he appears to be staring from his perch at something good to eat on the ground below him! Every feather is detailed, each feather grouping from the wings to the tail rendered in tight precision. The hawk's eye and beak are well formed as are the talons which form the base. An unusual carving from Fabian .. but every bit the treasure of perfection you'd expect.
