We thought at first this was a mole ... but then the photographs revealed the true nature of the carving and it's
a badger! He's made of pale Picasso marble by Colvin Weeka. The camera often sees more than we do at first
glance. And it was the camera which "saw" the etched stripe down the animal's back that identifies this little
being as a badger, guardian of the southern direction.
He is really nicely detailed, has turquoise inlaid eyes, formidable claws (!) and is carved from one stone which
forms the base as well.
Signed.
