This sweet little pony is carved from dolomite by Hayes Leekya. Hayes is the son of Francis Leekya (d.) -- and he carves in a style that is similar to that of his father. Years ago his horses were large - 4" - 6" - and Zuni rock. But these days he carves them smaller and in a variety of stones. He often inlays the hooves in turquoise as he's done on this one. The eyes are inlaid of penshell and the horse is signed on the bottom.
