Leland Boone has used an oyster shell to render this old-style frog. In one of our books there is a similar frog, made of shell, that is an ancient Hopi artifact. We love the simple design - taking what is there and merely adding slight form. Leland has shaped and inlaid the eyes of turquoise. He's also inlaid a host of red coral and turquoise "rain drops" on the frog's back.
In puebloan culture, the prayer for rain is constant. Frogs are a symbol of this nectar of life which brings food for the People and fertility throughout the Zuni Valley. Unsigned.
