Far more elegant carved by Calvert that the real thing is in life -- this beautiful raven is made of black marble. Now don't get me
wrong - I love ravens (and our East Texas crows) -- but they are NOT nearly so sophiticated as this carved beauty!
Calvert has been making ravens in a variety of postures (and stones) for as along as we've been collectors. In the beginning,
because his wife - Pedia - took the work in to sell at the trading posts, Calvert's work was attributed to her. But he's been
getting all the credit and glory now for years. And it's well deserved! This raven is highly polished and perfectly carved in a
contemporary, stylized profile. The wings and tail feathers are etched and smoothed to add precise dimension. Calvert has inlaid
the eyes of turquoise. From it's elongated beak to the fanned feathers of the tail -- it's The Most Glorious Raven Of Them All.
Signed.
