It's been a long time since we've had this many (#9648, #9651 & #9652) Herb Halate pieces to offer. We'd heard he'd taken a
job in Albuquerque but he's now back in Zuni and carving fulltime again. We couldn't be happier!
This gorgeous fox carving is made from fossiled coal (known as "jet") and it's a material that Herb works in exclusively. The
elongated body and flowing tail is further enhanced by the slender slab of turquoise Herb has gifted it with. Herb is the son of
Leonard Halate (d.) and brother to Reva, Vella, Marvelita and Pansy. He signs his work with joining double H's.
