This Emery bear has a dual personality. It's carved from Arizona serpentine and half of the stone is banded, the remaining part is
spotted! It's an interesting stone and the striations in the banded part are dramatic. Leave it to Emery to find such a rock! He's
got a great eye for interesting, colorful stones. The bear has a Mother of Pearl arrowhead tied on, in usual fashion, with
turquoise, coral and pen shell. The eyes of the bear are turquoise. Emery does not sign his work.
He actually grew up away from the Pueblo but returned when he came across a Zuni bear in a gift shop. The rest is history as he
is certainly one of the most active carvers in Zuni today. We've always appreciated his eye for interesting stones and his quality
work. He also maintains his prices at a level that's affordable for even the most frugal of collectors.
BEAR: The bear represents the western direction in a protective and healing fetish set. He is associated with the color blue and known for his curative powers. Though all bears are healers, white bears are particularly powerful. Characteristics associated with bears include strength, courage, adaptability, healing and spiritual communion.
