Dave and I are always curious about the inspiration for the really unusual Zuni fetishes that we receive. For this one, we're thinking that Fitz was at the morning breakfast table with the kids who were having their Froot Loops. (Can you believe there is a page on wikipedia.org for FROOT LOOPS?) Anyway, we're thinking that Fitz became so inspired by looking at Toucan Sam on the box .. that when he shuffled off to his carving bench, he whipped out this little guy. And what a cutie he is!

His body is mostly jet and his wings are etched. But it's that BEAK made of shell, turquoise, gaspeite and sugilite! Wow -- such creativity and we love all the colors! He's added a Mother of Pearl tail making this toucan over 3.5" long. We've never seen one before ... but we sure hope we do again. Toucan Sam direct from the Froot Loop box and Zuni Pueblo! Signed.
