This pretty pink frog is carved of Rhodochrosite by Bernard Homer, Jr. Bernard and his sister, Juana, are the carving children of Bernard, Sr. and Alice Leekya Homer (d.)

Bernard carves these frogs from all different kinds of materials and Juana inlays the shell and jet eyes. We used to see them all the time but they are harder to come by these days. Unsigned.

FROG: Frogs are a motif that are found in much of puebloan art. They are most often associated with water, prayers for rain, and fertility. Even tadpoles, in their various progressions to maturity, are carved into fetishes. Frogs are carved from various materials by many different artists but the carver most associated with frog fetishes would likely be Ricky Laahty.
