The stone that Vivella chose to carve this resting horse from is outstanding. There are really neat flecks of gold and silver pyrite (fool's gold) within the stone. And the lines of Vivella's carving are extra nice as well. She's inlaid the eyes of red coral for added color and etched the mane and tail beautifully.
Horse: Horses are not a traditional animal of the Zuni but they carve them (and probably have for generations) for other tribes and for herd protection. Characteristics associated with horses are power and achieving one's potential.
