Who can resist BLUE? According to several articles I read it is the most popular of colors and people associate it with such lovely things as the sky and the ocean. In Zuni, blue is associated with the bear, guardian of the western direction and revered for his curative powers.

Emery has chosen a beautiful lapis specimen for this chunky bear. There are some "clouds" (filled with precious rain, perhaps? It's the ever present prayer when you live in a desert environment) and sprinkles of the Milky way but the stone is predominately blue. (The crystals that appear amber colored are FAR less noticeable in life than they appear in the Dave's photos.) Emery's offering to the bear is an apple coral arrowhead tied on with the traditional beads of turquoise and branch coral. The bear's eyes are inlaid of turquoise. Unsigned.
