We first met Jonathan at his cousin Staley's house on a buying trip in 1998 and, at the time, he was an eager young teenage carver with a true talent for etching black marble. Years later his talent has evolved and he has developed a devout following among collectors far and wide. Hopefully, he will pass his knowledge down to the next generation of young carvers who are bitten by the sgraffito bug!

This turtle is etched on its back with traditional Zuni motifs and fine petit point inlay of Sleeping Beauty turquoise, and the eyes are inlaid of this same turquoise. A very nicely carved terrapin and it is signed "J. Natewa -ZUNI- ".
