This medicine bear (nose planted to Mother Earth) is carved of ricolite serpentine, a green banded variety of the stone. This is a common serpentine found in southeastern New Mexico and traditionally used in carving fetishes in Zuni for many years. Priscilla Lasiloo is married to Stewart Quandelacy.

The bear has eyes inlaid of Sleeping Beauty turquoise (of course) and an offering bundle of a spiny oyster shell arrowhead and tied with red coral and turquoise nuggets. This stone matches Stewart's bear (also in this posting)!
