Green snail shell is harvested offshore Indonesia and Japan for use in Zuni fetish carving. Stuart has used the shell to perfection utilizing the spiral in the center of the shell for a stand and also grinding it down to display the shimmering layers of the shell.

He has etched and/or inked traditional motifs such as dragonflies and stars along the outside of the maidens robe. His "signature" design of triangular spirals distinguishes Stuarts maidens from his aunties Faye and Sandra and cousins Vickie Q. and Kateri Sanchez. This maiden has inked eyes and inlay of red coral and Sleeping Beauty turquoise, and turquoise pours from the olla and from a "seam" of turquoise on the back of the shell spills out as well. Very nicely, and quite uniquely, done!
