If the Jeremy Lucero bear is my favorite from this selection, then this Donovan Laiwakete bear would have to be my next in line favorite. I do love all the contemporary, realistic carvings, I DO! But there is something very special about a piece that looks like it could have come from an earlier time. This bear strikes me that way.

It's a tiny, colorful treasure! The bear is carved from Picasso marble but is entirely black, except for the nose of the bear which is brown. (I love when that happens!) The form is very stylized and I love the shape of the legs, the curve of the back and the alert posture of the bear. And, if that weren't enough, the multi-colored heartline and offering bundle are just beautiful icing on the cake. He's quite the little beauty. Signed.
