This handsome little wolf is made from iron pyrite or "fools gold". Please note that the color of this carving is solid "gold" color. The surface is so reflective that it mirrors our background in most of these images. The most accurate picture of the color is the shot with Dave holding the wolf in his hand (last one.)


We saw quite a lot of this material some years back but none in recent times. Brion Hattie (the half brother of Jeff Tsalabutie [d. 2009]) has take a fairly small specimen and found this perfect little "yunawika" within. As expected, this metallic mineral specimen is weighty in the hand given the small stature of carving. The wolf features turquoise inlaid eyes and a tiny jet arrowhead offering. It measures just 1.5 inches long but possesses all the power associated with this, the guardian of the east. Signed.
