S O L D
Years ago we were enamored of Florentino's delicate wasps and dragonflies he carved from fossil ivory. They were so lifelike but fragile looking and we were afraid they might not survive either a shipping experience or an airplane flight. But their exquisite beauty was haunting and I've always regretted not having one or two (or a dozen!) in our collection.
We're please now to be able to offer to you, this spectacular TURQUOISE carving by Florentino. It features a climbing frog about to meet head on with a resting dragonfly who is likely salivating of the ladybug to its left. All three are perched atop a little mushroom colony and the form and execution of this piece is perfect in every way. The porportion, animation and clarity of each figure is perfect. The stone, too, is a nice, clear blue (likely Chinese) turquoise with black matrix. Each of the characters is cutaway from the foundation of the stone base giving each a more lifelike appearance. You will not be disappointed! Signed.
