This classic olla maiden was carved from stablized green Chinese turquoise by Kateri Sanchez. (The olla being the pot she's holding at her hip.) Kateri is the daughter of Georgia Quandelacy and is best known for her single maidens. The stone she chose to carve this pretty girl has exquisite color with the front side being a lovely olive-brown color. The maiden has etched features with with inked facial details and dragonflies on the robe. Tiny points of red coral decorate the maiden's robe and her necklace. A lovely girl and very symbolic of the corn maidens to the Zuni creation story. Unsigned.
