A happy departure from the carvings we're used to seeing from Hayes! Of course we adore his horses and all the other carvings he's known for, but it always makes me happy to see an established carver add to his repetoire of pieces. And who doesn't love dragonflies? Associated with water, dragonflies speak of life in an arid environment.


Hayes has carved the body of the dragonfly from jet and given it wings of turquoise and abalone. The eyes are inlaid of turquoise as well. A very special carvings .. and one I will probably regret not keeping for my own. Quick! Before I change my mind!!! Signed.
