Dave and I are like little kids on Christmas morning each and every time a box arrives from Zuni. Even my mom (who is 85 and lives with us) has gotten in on the act. We love unwrapping each one and ooh and aah with each unveiling. We're constantly amazed at the small tweaks and innovations from carvers that can change a previously known, well loved form into something new.
Take, for example, this white wolf by Delvin Leekya. He's carved wolves for years and years. And most often you'll see them in Zuni rock. But we love them in white marble as well. The added inlay on tail, nose and ears makes it an altogether different animal. And personality? Tons! He's the only one we have but there might be a Brother bear in a future posting, so stay tuned for that. Meanwhile .. don't hesitate over this guy. We anticipate his popularity to be fairly high! He has a beautiful turquoise, abalone and red coral bundle in addition to loads of charm. Unsigned.
