S O L D

There are so many reasons to love Zuni fetishes. The beauty, the symbolism, the connection to crystal blue skies and blood red mesas, the fragrance of juniper and sage and baking bread. I think of all these things when I hold a fetish carving. The blue-black hair and mile-wide grins of the carvers when they approach me and our shared laughter. Clearly I have lost my ability to be impartial or objective. Though far from utopia, Zuni is magic for me.

The sweetness of this little turtle reminds me of dusty roads and barking dogs and drum beats from some courtyard. Starry nights, did I say barking dogs?, friendship, shared chili-cheese fries @ the 53 Cafe. Leland has captured the sun in this adorable little calcite turtle and gifted it with turquoise raindrops for eyes and shell. Signed and comes complete with all these memories and more.
