The white wolf is the guardian of the east in a healing and protective directional set. This beautiful gold-lipped Mother of Pearl wolf was carved by Avery Quandelacy. It is similar to those carved by Andres, his brother, but side by side, you can distinguish the differences between the two. Both carve 'fur' but sometimes the surface is left smooth. Avery sometimes inlays heartlines but Andres nearly always does. Avery's wolves usually look forward while Andres' wolves often have their nose to the ground. The features of Avery's wolves are generally more square while Andres' lines are more fluid. And all of that can be subject to change! Gee, that was helpful huh? But it's true that nothing can be stated as a fact because everything is subject to change. Still, with a bit of experience most collectors can tell at a glance which piece is Avery's and which piece is Andres'.
There is only a slight 'golding' on this piece of shell and it does have some rainbow reflected on the left side. The fur is deeply etched and the eyes are inlaid of yet. Avery has initialled the carving "AQ" on the bottom.
We don't see nearly as many pieces by Avery as we do Andres, so if you are rounding out your collection, this is an excellent opportunity to enlarge your Quandelacy family section.
We thought this wolf also was 'movie star quality. See his video here.
