According to Wikipedia goldstone is a type of glittering glass made in a low-oxygen reducing atmosphere. The finished product can take a smooth polish and be carved into beads, figurines, or other artifacts suitable for semiprecious stone, and in fact goldstone is often mistaken for or misrepresented as a natural material. Another common name for the material is aventurine glass, based on the original Italian name "avventurina". The original manufacturing process for goldstone was invented in seventeenth-century Venice by the Miotti family. The most common form of goldstone is reddish-brown, containing tiny crystals of metallic copper that require special conditions to form properly.

Stewart carved this medicine bear form this reddish-brown variety of the glass. He inlaid the eyes of Sleeping Beauty turquoise and created the offering bundle consisting of a turquoise arrowhead and red coral beads and a larger turquoise heishe bead tied with sinew. The fetish is unsigned, large for its kind and heavy as a stone weighing in at 3.2 ounces!
