It was quite a delight to find a fetish from one of my favorite carving couples Aaron (d.) and Thelma Sheche. Thelma is a historical encyclopedia for fetish carving. One afternoon at the Zuni Arts and Crafts trading post in the late 90s, the meat pie lady was making her rounds to sell her trademark Zuni lunch item and the sales people and Thelma all had lunch with me. I was puzzled by the term bushytail. I asked her how to tell an old style wolf from a coyote from a fox. She informed me that it is whichever you want it to be. If to you it looks like a fox, then it is!

It is becoming harder and harder to find these collaborative pieces because collectors are not parting with their higher end fetishes, and they also are not being produced any more. This piece was one that the dealer had found in his stored shoe boxes from the past. So collectors grab these pumas while you still can!
