Daniel Chattin is a very talented young carver who has been awarded many prestigious prizes in various national shows. He specializes in corn maidens and uses shell almost exclusively. He is married to Jovanna Poblano, daughter of Veronica and grand daughter of the famed Leo Poblano. He began carving in 1995 and found support and inspiration in the Poblano family of artists. He was drawn to Zuni maidens due to their importance to Zuni culture and soon the collaboration between he and Jovanna was born and he began to carve pendants for her necklaces. While he continues to work with Jovanna, he also carves stand alone fetishes.

This beautiful maiden is carved from a sleek piece of pink (probably conch) shell. The graceful sway and simplistic beauty is indicative of his style and will compliment any collection.

We especially love to see the younger generations take up the artistry of their ancestors and this young family is no exception. Now the young sons of Daniel and Jovanna have begun their carving careers as well.
