Dolomite originates in the same sedimentary environments as limestone - warm, shallow, marine environments where calcium carbonate mud accumulates in the form of shell debris, fecal material, coral fragments and carbonate precipitates. Dolomite and limestone are very similar rocks and they are approximately the same hardness. They share the same color ranges of white-to-gray and white-to-light brown although other colors such as red, green and black are possible. Dolomite is named for the French mineralogist Deodat de Dolomieu and is a common sedimentary rock-forming mineral that can be found in massive beds several hundred feet thick. They are found all over the world and are quite common in sedimentary rock sequences. Along with calcite and aragonite, dolomite makes up approximately 2 percent of the upper crust of the earth.

Stewart has a unique profile for mountain lions by carving them in the old style with the tail up and over the back. He inlaid the eyes of Sleeping Beauty turquoise and the offering bundle is a sleek blend of a malachite arrowhead with a red coral branch and turquoise nugget tied with sinew. The fetish is unsigned as is common to the artist and family and weighs in at 3.3 ounces. This fetish will be a great addition to your pride of lions!
