This carving of a frog on a mushroom is by Zuni carver, Tony Mackel. It is made from a piece of Picasso marble that is fairly pale in color, ranging from beige to gray with rusty striations.

The frog is a juvenile frog having a small tail, so it is still morphing from tadpole to frog. Frogs are very important to the Zuni people and are related to blessed rain and life-giving moisture.

The eyes of the frog are inlaid of turquoise and the fetish is signed on the bottom.
