The base color of sodalite is a rather dark blue to a violet blue color, however it usually has veins of white calcite and a reddish inclusion. It is quite easy to confuse sodalite with lapis lazuli because sodalite can also have flecks of pyrite. But lapis rarely has the actual veins of white that we see in sodalite. It was discovered in Greenland in 1806. The places in the world where sodalite is mined is Boliva, Brazil, Columbia, Greenland, India, Namibia, Norway, Ontario & Quebec Canada, Portugal, Romania and also Maine and Arkansas in North America.

The eyes and four directional raindrops are inlaid of raised and rounded Sleeping Beauty turquoise and the fetish is signed Georgette Q Lunasee on the bottom in her typical manner. A nice addition to your Zuni fetish pond!
