Oh, I could wax poetic about the majesty of this powerful ram. I could expound freely about its finely etched, massive body, revel in the sharp detail of the large, detailed, spiral horns ... the cloven, polished hooves that contrast with the textured body, the cocked head and expressive face. Okay, maybe I just did. It's hard to look at a Wilfred Cheama carving and not be swept away by the sheer FABULOUSNESS of it all.
Wilfred and his brothers have produced some amazing, award winning carvings over the past decades but each one that comes into my line of sight just blows me away. He has fashioned this wonderful ram (mountain sheep) from a largely beige piece of Picasso marble with some rusty inclusions and the black mainly positioned on the face. It is extremely nice in every way.
Another in our estate series, we can't be sure when it was carved but I am guessing late 1990's - early 2000. Signed. Perfect. Wonderful. Let it take YOUR breath away ..
